Éire Dialogue is a Dublin-based non-profit organisation working to strengthen dialogue, understanding and social cohesion across Ireland.
We bring people together across cultures, faiths, communities and different walks of life, creating spaces where people can meet, listen to one another and build meaningful relationships. Through community programmes, educational initiatives, public conversations and partnerships, we seek to turn dialogue into practical action that contributes positively to Irish society.
Our work is built around three interconnected pillars: Dialogue, Education and Human Rights. These pillars shape how we approach our projects and partnerships from bringing neighbours and communities together, to creating opportunities for learning, encouraging active citizenship, and promoting the dignity and equal worth of every person.
Our Inspiration
Our approach is inspired in part by the human-centred teachings and traditions associated with Rumi, Yunus Emre and Fethullah Gülen, whose works, across different historical periods, have emphasised themes such as compassion, service, education, human dignity and engagement with others.
The poetry of Rumi reminds us of the transformative possibilities of encounter, empathy and looking beyond the boundaries that separate people.
Yunus Emre, whose poetry has spoken across centuries through its simple yet profound language of love, humility and humanity, inspires an understanding of dialogue that begins with recognising the dignity of the person before us.
The thought and example of Fethullah Gülen, particularly his emphasis on education, service to society and dialogue between people of different faiths and backgrounds, has also influenced the tradition from which Éire Dialogue emerged.
We draw inspiration from these figures without seeking to represent or promote any particular religious tradition. Éire Dialogue is not a religious or ethnic organisation, and participation in our work does not depend on faith, background or worldview.
An Irish space for everyone
Éire Dialogue belongs to the society in which it works.
Ireland today is home to people with increasingly diverse cultures, beliefs, identities and experiences. We believe this diversity can enrich our shared society when people have genuine opportunities to encounter one another, not simply to coexist, but to listen, learn, participate and build together.
That is why our work includes people from across Irish society: community organisations, public institutions, faith and worldview communities, educators, academics, young people, older people, migrants, volunteers, professionals and people whose lived experiences deserve a greater place in public conversation.
We do not expect people to agree on everything. Dialogue, for us, is not about creating uniformity. It is about developing the trust and relationships that allow people to live with difference while recognising their shared responsibilities to one another.
Ultimately, Éire Dialogue seeks to contribute to an Ireland where difference does not have to mean distance, where people can remain true to who they are while finding common ground with others, and where dialogue, education and respect for human dignity help build stronger and more connected communities.
