About this project
The Common Ground
The Common Ground is Éire Dialogue’s recurring discussion and learning programme, creating a welcoming and carefully facilitated space where people from different sectors, communities and life experiences can come together for meaningful conversation.
Each session brings together a small group of participants around a guest with particular expertise, responsibility or lived experience. Rather than a traditional lecture or panel discussion, the programme combines expert insight with thoughtful questions and open dialogue, giving participants the opportunity to explore important issues, challenge assumptions and learn from perspectives they may not usually encounter.
Topics reflect the diversity and changing realities of Irish society and may include community cohesion, education, human rights, active citizenship, interfaith and intercultural dialogue, migration and belonging, public trust, identity, equality, peacebuilding and social inclusion.
Guests and participants are drawn from across Irish society, including academics, educators, community leaders, public servants, faith and worldview representatives, artists, journalists, young people, professionals, policymakers and people bringing valuable lived experience.
Common Ground takes place at least once a month, with the possibility of sessions every three weeks as the programme develops. The conversations are designed not to end when the session finishes: insights can inform Éire Dialogue’s projects, strengthen partnerships, inspire new collaborations and contribute to briefing papers, policy work and wider community learning.
At its heart, The Common Ground is about creating a space where people can listen honestly, disagree respectfully, learn from one another and discover what can be achieved when different perspectives meet on common ground.
